Bio-Zyme & Government Water Managers

Are You Caught Between A Rock And A Hard Place?

The Clean Water Problem

Your constituents are looking to you and other public officials for leadership in providing for a clean environment and water system. Today water quality is a very hot button issue. There has been very public outcry about the water and government officials who are charged with task of maintaining our water assets are often caught between and rock and hard space in their competing points of view in how to eliminate excessive nutrients that cause a multitude of environmental problems.

The question you have to answer is, what is the most effective course of action within the limits of your budget and mandate that can solve the water quality problem that will make all stakeholders satisfied?

The Solution: Bacterial Augmentation With Bio-Zyme

Water is a connected system: water from rain drains the surrounding land into ponds and lakes, then flows into rivers finding its way to estuaries and eventually to the ocean. All along waters journey it picks up nutrients and that is the problem. Mother Nature can't keep up. There is a cost effective, safe and efficient solution ... bacterial augmentation with Bio-Zyme.

Jim Burney, past president of AVC, discusses the problem and the role of bacterial augmentation with Bio-Zyme.

Bio-Zyme is not a chemical. Bio-Zyme is a unique blend of natural bacteria that exist in lakes and pounds. It works by augmenting the natural bacteria at the base of the food chain to remove nutrients.

Limitations Of STAs To Clean Water?

A great deal time, money and political capital have been spent in developing a series of storm water treatment areas do the work in removing excessive nutrients. STAs are effective but STAs have limitations as a solution:

1. STAs are expensive to acquire, build and maintain.

2. As water flows through an STA plants remove nutrients. A series STAs with specific plants are required to effectively clean water to acceptable levels.  STAs are effective only as long as the water can flow from one STA to another is maintained.

3.STA’s are shallow only a few feet deep. Over time organic sediment build-up reducing the depth of the STA. As the water flow becomes restricted it reduces the STAs effectiveness to clean water.

4.To maintain the STAs viability to clean water the STA must be maintained by removing the organic sediment. Mechanical muck reduction (dredging) can be used remove the muck and reestablish water flow.

5. Mechanical muck reduction is expensive, takes the STA off line and is harsh environmentally.

6. When as STA is dredged plants and animals are also removed. Plants that are needed in the STA to remove nutrients have to be replanted.
